Understanding Grade Percentage
To convert a score into a percentage, divide the number of correct answers by the total number of questions and multiply by 100. For instance, if you score 18/20, it means you answered 18 questions correctly out of a total of 20.
Formula: (Correct ÷ Total) × 100 = Percentage
Example: (18 ÷ 20) × 100 = 90%
Grading on a Curve Calculator
Curve grading adjusts scores to account for a difficult exam. Two common methods:
- Add-points curve: Add a fixed number of points to every student's score. If the highest score was 85, you might add 15 points so the top score becomes 100.
- Scale-to-100 curve: Divide each score by the highest score and multiply by 100. For example, if the highest raw score is 80, a student scoring 60 would get (60/80) × 100 = 75%.
Use the curve section in the calculator above to experiment with both methods.
